What are compliance audits?

Recently, we’ve assisted several clients by conducting compliance audits for them.

A compliance audit is different from a full inspection, in that we can conduct them on a number of different aspects of the business, but separately.

Here are just three types of audits we can carry out:

Lab audits

A member of our Quality Department visits the client’s laboratory. They’ll look at:

  • Equipment – is it all working correctly and calibrated accordingly?
  • Staff audits – are they all up-to-date and sufficient?
  • Asbestos waste – is it being stored and disposed of correctly?
  • Working area – is it clean with a layout conducive to a safe working environment
  • RI liquids – are they in date and stored and used correctly?
  • Documentation – is it relevant and appropriate?
  • Displayed signage – is it appropriate?

Asbestos management plan

We can conduct a desktop review, where existing client data is sent to us, and we can check that according to their own documentation they are compliant with the relevant regulations and industry guidance.

All survey data and removal paperwork is reviewed, as well as the Asbestos Management Plan document to ensure everything is included that should be.

Survey audits

Clients provide us with their existing survey data for a particular building or set of buildings, and a member of the Quality Department visits the site to re-survey the property. They make sure all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) have been identified, that the site diagrams are accurate, and that any inaccessible areas are justified.

Each audit is followed up with a comprehensive written report for the client, detailing our findings and including any recommendations for improvement.
