Asbestos Bulk Analysis

Environtec is one of the leading air monitoring service providers in the UK today with a national mobile fleet of laboratories.

We offer a comprehensive air monitoring and four stage clearance services to ensure that asbestos removal contractors are operating in line with regulatory requirements and project specific method statements and to ensure that the removal is carried out to the highest standards.

Our air monitoring services are UKAS accredited which ensures conformity to ISo/IEC17025:2005 and are carried out in accordance with HSE guidance including HSG248 Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures and in-house procedures.

Asbestos Analysts employed by Environtec hold the internationally recognised BOHS proficiency module P403 “Asbestos fibre counting” and P404 “Air sampling or asbestos and MMMF and requirements for a Certificate of Reoccupation” following clearance of asbestos.  Our more experienced analysts work towards the BOHS occupational hygiene module W504 “Asbestos and other fibres”.

Air monitoring paperwork and certification is completed using hand held tablets and printed from the mobile laboratory so copies can be left on site for both the building manager and the contractor if required.  Additional copies are provided to clients through Environtec’s Asbestos Management Portal.

Our asbestos air testing services can be offered on an emergency basis and are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

We actively participate in Regular Inter-Laboratory Counting Exchange (RICE) proficiency schemes administered by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL).

Having operated UKAS accredited laboratories and delivering asbestos bulk analysis since 1999, we have the necessary experience to offer you a wealth of knowledge and capability.

Our network of laboratories have developed significantly in recent years and we now employ 30 laboratory analysts from six regional offices.  This capability ensures that samples collected during surveys or sampling exercises can be delivered, analysed and reported on quickly and efficiently.

We offer a wide range of laboratory analysis services, including:

  • Urgent Analysis – samples analysed the same day
  • Priority Analysis – samples analysed within 24 hours
  • Routine Analysis – samples analysed within 72 hours
  • Drop-in Service – wait while samples are analysed

  • Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Analysis
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Analysis
  • Asbestos in Soil Testing

All asbestos bulk analysis services are UKAS accredited which ensures conformity to ISO17025 and are carried out in accordance with HSE guidance including HSG248 Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures and in-house procedures.

Laboratory technicians employed by Environtec hold the internationally recognised BOHS proficiency module P401 “Identification of asbestos in bulk samples” and have a minimum of one year industry experience.

On completion of bulk sample analysis, clients are issued a formal Asbestos Fibre Identification (AFI) report which provides the result of the analysis.  We offer delivery of these certificates and information via our Asbestos Management Portal or can be issued in person if the customer has used the drop-in service.

We are also able to upload results onto client’s websites or databases, particularly when there is a high volume of samples or if there is a need to turnaround results quickly.

We actively participate in Asbestos in Materials Scheme (AIMS) proficiency schemes administered by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL).
