Managing Asbestos in Premises
Who is it for?
The course is designed to provide the practical knowledge and the skills to be able to manage asbestos in premises and to give a basic knowledge of asbestos management plans, policies and procedures and their implementation and checks on effectiveness. This training is suitable for Managers and Directors who need to execute their responsibilities as Duty Holder under Regulation 4 of The Control of asbestos Regulations 2012.
The course includes a wide range of topics including Understanding legislation relating to asbestos and its management, Identification of the types of asbestos materials and the appropriate means of recording their locations and procedures and methods used to prevent future damage, Management and Organisation requirements associated with work activities within asbestos containing premises,
including the processes required for controlling works which could disturb asbestos containing materials along with any appropriate precautions which may be required, Training requirements for compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 along with methods for ensuring the selection of suitable and competent organisations and Elements required for an asbestos management plan, how to implement an asbestos management plan and also the checks required when reviewing its effectiveness.

This course contains a short answer questions examination under the supervision of a BOHS invigilator.
Candidates are also required to demonstrate they have sufficient knowledge with respect to the duty holders requirements and either produce an asbestos management plan or a report compiled from a critical review of an asbestos management plan. The report must be submitted to BOHS within twelve months.
Qualification and Certificates
A formal certificate is issued to successful candidates directly by BOHS.
